(Marshfield, Mass.) The Marshfield Fire Department has partnered with The GUIDE App, an award-winning mobile wellness platform built specifically for first responders and frontline professionals. The collaboration provides Marshfield Fire personnel with unlimited access to confidential, evidence-based tools that help members manage stress, strengthen resilience, and sustain mental fitness throughout their careers.

Developed by wellness and resilience experts with backgrounds in public safety and the military, The GUIDE App combines science-backed strategies with practical exercises that fit the demands of shift work and emergency response. The platform addresses common challenges faced in the field, including burnout, trauma exposure, and fatigue, through short, actionable sessions that can be completed anytime, anywhere. GUIDE’s foundation in anonymity and privacy helps reduce barriers to seeking support and ensures every user can engage safely and confidently.

The app’s effectiveness is backed by independent research from a leading medical university study, which found that regular use of The GUIDE App led to a 32 percent reduction in depression symptoms and a 9 percent reduction in anxiety among participants over four weeks. These results add to GUIDE’s growing record of measurable impact and reinforce its value as a trusted, evidence-based tool for improving first responder well-being.

This initiative reflects the Marshfield Fire Department’s continued focus on comprehensive wellness for its firefighters and staff. Under the leadership of Chief Michael LaSelva, the department has prioritized mental health as a vital part of operational readiness and community safety.

“Safety is always the number priority in the fire service. Our job revolves around protecting the citizens and keeping the community safe. The fire service has realized that in years past, we had forgotten one of the major pieces of that: our members safety and wellness. There has been drastic progress in making firefighters physically safe, but with the help of the GUIDE app, we can also ensure their mental health and wellness. We are all excited to implement this app and feel it will be a tremendous help for all those who are dedicated to helping others.”

The GUIDE App has shown measurable outcomes in independent evaluations. In recent usage studies, 88 percent of participants engaged with the app daily and 90 percent reported satisfaction with their experience. Its clinically validated content has been demonstrated to reduce anxiety by nearly 30 percent. The GUIDE App was recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a “Top-30 Solution” from more than 1,300 applicants and was named a finalist in the VA’s Mission Daybreak Challenge for innovative approaches to suicide prevention.

“We are proud to support Chief LaSelva and the Marshfield Fire Department as leaders in first responder wellness,” said Patrick Sandone, Founder of The GUIDE App. “Mental health is just as important as physical health when it comes to readiness and job performance. We built The GUIDE App to equip firefighters and other first responders with the tools and a strong, dependable support network to stay sharp and mission-ready.”

By implementing The GUIDE App, the Marshfield Fire Department joins a growing network of agencies nationwide that are prioritizing the wellness and resilience of their teams. GUIDE is currently in use by departments such as the Philadelphia Police Department (PA), City of Dover Police Department (DE), Philadelphia Fire Department (PA), Pennsylvania State Police (PA), and the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office (MA). Together, these partnerships represent a growing movement in public safety to invest in the health and longevity of the professionals who serve our communities.

Irritability increases. Sleep quality declines. Over months and years, this sustained activation contributes to burnout, emotional exhaustion, and cumulative stress injuries that are difficult to recognize until they are well established.
